Mondello
The most spectacular route to access Mondello near Palermo is the one that passes through Acquasanta , then along the coast under Monte Pellegrino up to Valdesi .
From here a wonderful 2 km long sandy beach curves up to the small seaside resort, located under the steep north side of the mountain. The beach is the main attraction, but Mondello also boasts a tiny working harbor , a pier where you can try your hand at fishing, and the remains of a medieval tower.
It is wonderful to divide yourself between the beach and a lunch on the seafront , you can choose from a series of trattorias, some with outdoor terraces, where the freshest fish is displayed in large glass counters, or buy take-away food from the stalls on the seafront.
On the beach you can rent umbrellas and deck chairs and you can spend the afternoon windsurfing, scuba diving or swimming with a mask and snorkel, renting or purchasing equipment on site.
Entertainment
In the summer, spending the evening, and even the night, in Mondello is fun, starting with the classic evening "stroll" .
The bars on the main square, Piazza Mondello, are very crowded, the streets are blocked by cars full of young people, and the open-air discos complete the scene.
In the winter months, the atmosphere is much quieter, but the restaurants and stalls are still open, and the sea is generally warm enough for you to swim until early autumn and beyond.
